The Opening ceremony of Common Wealth Games 2010 is in the process in Delhi along with very strict security. A fortress which is in front is full of policemen who are having snipers in their hands and all the ‘Light Armored Troops Carrier’ along with well trained forces from paramilitary was all there in addition to the Delhi Police force. All the police including about 100,000 policemen were deployed so as to keep the shops and other business closed.
Prince Charles inaugurated the event open during the Opening ceremony of Common Wealth Games 2010 in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium who will read the baton message followed by Prathiba Patil who will say ’Let the Games Begin’.
With 7000 athletes and staff members from 71 countries participation on the Opening ceremony of Common Wealth Games 2010, the event is going to be largest in the legend of India, though it has been stuck by criticism. It is also the most costly Common Wealth Games so far. The balloon (the aerostat) will be raised which is held in the middle which shows the names of the countries and videos itself has caused about 40 crores of Rupees. Hanging puppets will be dancing throughout the show with musicians and dancers from 26 states making it colorful and 1000 musicians playing songs
Some of the competitors withdrew just because the village described uninhabitable, still the officials along with thousands of people are working day and night and handling the issues to make the village inhabitable and start the competition in the said time
Singing sensation Hariharan is going to share the stage with Oscar winner A R Rehman to perform the song Swagatham (Welcome song) and will end with A R Rehman’s “Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto” theme song along with Jai ho and Vande Mataram.
Mehendi function was held in which teenagers and young adults colored Mehendi with big sketch pens in a huge cloth on the other side with one side opened to the audience.
Though some of the functions were kept secret, according to reports, the function will be richly expressing cultural tradition which will follow a yoga program.
